Applying for membership in the Directory is simple:
The Editor (that's me) will insert your listing into the Directory, after checking your blog to make sure it meets the requirements. As stated on my front page, all applying sites must be non-commercial, and must not contain obscenity or vulgarity. (It's not my purpose to stomp on free speech here, but it's also a good thing to promote a "family-friendly" atmosphere. Your basic guideline would be the equivalent of a PG-13 rating in a movie. A "hell" or "damn" will slip by, as I've used them myself in times of pressure; other words -- and I do do a text grep to look for them -- will raise a flag.) Sploggers, scrapers, and other Lower Forms of Life need not apply, and will be removed if discovered to have somehow sneaked in.
As noted on our front page, I'm urging all members, especially new ones, to join the Bama Bloggers Group at ning.com. This site is similar to Facebook, but is much more limited in how much information you are asked to supply. Please give this a look and consider joining, as membership in this is a much surer way to spread group news than the mailing list I've tried to maintain in the past.
You need not fear spam from Bama Bloggers. I do not sell mail addresses, gather personal or any other info, yadda yadda yadda, and never will. This project is to fill a perceived "need" for another directory of Alabama blogs, and that is all. Feel free to pass this site URL to any other Alabama bloggers you may know of (though I'm attempting to reach all blogs currently in the al.com/Birmingham News listing). The only reason I'll hold on to the mail addresses of all accepters is to send out an occasional news broadcast, as in a mailing list; and as my mail client isn't one normally attacked by trojans, worms and virii, it should be safe from getting spread to Doers of Eeee-ville (grin).
